Yelle

Probably my favourite track of the week on my favourite label of all time Kitsune Maison, who have provided us with a number of classic tracks (check out the Cazals 'Somebody Somewhere' 12 inch because it is undoubtedly rude)

So go and download the newest Yelle single and dont let the january blues get you down, march will be upon us soon and we can pick up Yelle's album.

Packaging

Just a quick post today, I want to enjoy the snow and a roast chicken.

I love packaging design and these examples of some packaging design i did last year.
The brief was to produce eco-friendly on the go food packaging.

This is a great packaging design website, The Die Line.

Website! (+OFWGKTA)

So my website is going live, its a work in progress so not all content is included!
Feedback would be appreciated so let me know!

ENZOdesign

On a separate note Id like to celebrate the audio sensation that is Odd Future (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill The All)((ofwgkta)) the freshest hip-hop sound coming out of Los Angeles.

As a fan of old school hip-hop (De la Soul and Dr Dre's some what hypocritical preaching in particular) Odd Future really appeal to me.

A skate crew that seems half jackass half hipster half rappers, all their mixtapes are available free for download from their website, which also has some get graphics.

Get involved people!

Negative Space

I really like the way negative space can be use to produce graphics.

I produced this using the outlines of classic chairs.

Microsoft tags are the new black

I came across Microsoft Tags during research for an on going project.

This QR code links users to the Microsoft Tags website.

I am producing a set of postage stamp inspired by British Fashion. To help the flow of information and ultimately educate I am including a website which explains my inspiration and the content of the stamp.

The most efficient way of allowing user to access the website was using QR codes. The QR code is hidden beneath the stamp design which is peeled back by the user. They can easily scan the code using their mobile phone and access the online content.

QR codes are essentially barcodes. Originally used in an industrial environment there potential has been developed considerably and they can now be designed to hold text, URLs and phone numbers.

When I tried to use QR codes with the stamps it didnt work due to size constraints.

Microsoft tags can be smaller, are aesthetically more interesting, easy to produce and can be easily customized. Ive put an example of one beneath which would link users to this blog.

The potential exposure tags like this offer really excites me.

On a final note I would like to comment on what an idiot Sarah Palin sounded when she refered to North Korea as our 'friends.'

Wheres the remote?

Ive just come across this chair and i think its a great design so have decided to pop it up.

Designed and produced by Japanese studio Daisuke Motogi Architecure its call lost in the sofa and was presented at the DesignTide in Tokyo this year.

The way it is upholstered means users can store objects in the chair by wedging them in the slots.

It doesn't look great but I just love the way it works.

Unfortunately like most of my chairs I would probably overload it and be unable to actually sit on it....

Shout out to Salem

Salem is a group Ive only recently come across and although this is a blog about design I feel they are worth a mention. I find its great music to work to and thats why im blogging about it. This is one of my favourite tracks, but check out Skullcrush too. and all the rest.

So Salem are rednecks that spend their time producing grimey subfilled electronic music and running around the woods of Michigan. Its sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.

The ambient yet atmospheric(epic) quality of Salem's music is what appeals to me.

In a recent interview with Dazed and Confused front man John Holland was asked how he felt about bands making "aesthetically similar music,' he replied with this

'No art is completely original. People constantly take from and are inspired by each other. Plus, if a band is making music that’s similar to ours, it just means there’s more of a chance that we’ll be re-inspired by what they’re doing'

A sentiment I share when it comes to design, 'It’s an exchange of ideas.' Often other design can be my biggest source inspiration.
