Salem is a group Ive only recently come across and although this is a blog about design I feel they are worth a mention. I find its great music to work to and thats why im blogging about it. This is one of my favourite tracks, but check out Skullcrush too. and all the rest.
So Salem are rednecks that spend their time producing grimey subfilled electronic music and running around the woods of Michigan. Its sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.
The ambient yet atmospheric(epic) quality of Salem's music is what appeals to me.
In a recent interview with Dazed and Confused front man John Holland was asked how he felt about bands making "aesthetically similar music,' he replied with this
'No art is completely original. People constantly take from and are inspired by each other. Plus, if a band is making music that’s similar to ours, it just means there’s more of a chance that we’ll be re-inspired by what they’re doing'
A sentiment I share when it comes to design, 'It’s an exchange of ideas.' Often other design can be my biggest source inspiration.
